Obama: Prophet of Doom?

Once again, Obama showed up 15 minutes late for his much awaited economic speech today about the $800 billion federal spending boondoogle. In his speech, he took a page out of the Carter textbook, sans sweater, and bemoaned the state of the economy. He painted a bleak picture and warned that if the government did not come to the rescue with hundreds of billions of dollars in stimulus, we would face "dire consequences" for years to come. It sounds like he is trying to paint as bleak a picture of the economy as he can so he can manage our expectations!

Geez, I'm glad I watch that speech live. How uplifting! In this package is the usual nonsense about spending for infrastructure, alternative energy, updating most federal buildings to improve energy efficiency, making medical records electronic, expanding broadband networks, and rebuilding schools. And of course, a $1,000 tax cut for 95% of working families, including the ones that do not pay any income taxes. For this crap we have to spend $800 billion? What, no Man on Mars program thrown in to round it up to $1 trillion?

In the speech there was NO mention of....

An Ode to Economic History

From www.BeltwayBlowhards.com

Its January 5, 2009
And Obama is in town starting to whine

The economy, he says, needs his almighty help
And not one of the lib blowhards dares to yelp

He acts like the economy has a terminal cancer
Then turns to Nancy and Harry for the wrong answer

Mr. Obama, please look back when we had it much harder
Just remember how bad things were under President Carter

Yes, it got worse for a while under the great Ronald R
But he knew what to do, he said, we have raised taxes too far

Cut them, he said, or the economy will blow
And sure enough, soon our economy did grow

The 111th Congress will soon be in session
Only to forget this recent history lesson

Yes, we all can see that the economy is bad
But don't increase spending, it will just make us mad

Instead please start the year with a clean slate

And cut spending and taxes, before it's too late!

Should Congress Get a Pay Raise? Double for Nothing!

            =

2009 begins tomorrow and the Beltway Blowhards, those 535 geniuses in both the House and Senate, are scheduled to get an automatic cost of living increase of about $4,700 each (about $2.5 million in total).  This amount of money may not sound like much considering how much loot  these morons waste each day bailing out the banks, insurance companies, auto makers and, in their spare time, sending a a few billion dollars of pork to their districts.

HOWEVER, with hundreds of thousands of Americans getting layed off, downsized, or facing salary freezes or cuts, these Potomac Pontificators should reject these raises and take a VOTE so we know where each and every one of them stands on this issue. These lawmakers should be happy to have a job, considering how poorly they perform. If they worked in the private sector, they would have been terminated long ago for sub-standard performance.

A few members of Congress have introduced legislation to stop the automatic pay adjustments, but the bills have died in committee.

They should also pass legislation FREEZING all federal, non-military, salaries until the federal budget has been balanced.

These blowhards ranted and raved at the auto CEO's a few weeks ago to take $1.00 in salary per year until their companies turned a profit. At the same time they spend our money like drunken sailors with little regard for the future fiscal consequences. The only thing they seem to care about is getting re-elected.

The solution to this problem  is real simple. DOUBLE the pay raise for each and every blowhard to $9,400 on only ONE condition - that they stay home the ENTIRE year, pass no legislation, and conduct weekly town hall meetings so they can listen to how fed up we are with their moronic behavior.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone, even the Beltway Blowhards!

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the night
Taxpayers all worried about the economic blight

The crooks and traders on Wall Street had killed all their dreams
And the politicians bored us with all their promises and screams

The election with Obama and McCain made for an interesting summer
Too bad the star of the show was the common man, Joe the Plumber

We need presents from Santa with Dasher, Dancer, Comet, and Red Rudolph to thank
Then we wake up from a nightmare about those blowhards Dodd, Cox and Frank

Do not fret over the economy or unemployment, my dear friends
A Bailout a Day will save us, even if it makes such little sense

CHRISTMAS DAY is now near, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of the nation
Thank goodness the Beltway Blowhards are now on vacation

Shrinking Three Bailout: Insanity v. Arrogance

Ron Gettelfinger, aka Ron Goldfinger, the head of the U.A.W., said yesterday that the critics of The Shrinking Three federal bailout must be  "insane"  for opposing it.
Mr. Goldfinger:

> Are the critics of this boondoogle "money down the drain" bailout insane to demand that we taxpayers shred $14 billion now and probably another $50 to $100 billion next year for companies that are already bankrupt in an economy where nobody wants to buy any cars, including Toyotas?

> Is it insane for the taxpayers, people like me who spend over $10,000 per year on a personal health care policy with deductibles of $10,000 per year, to ask that the U.A.W. trade your gold-plated health care policies for silver -plated ones?

> Is it insane to criticize this bailout of The Shrinking Three - companies that are saddled with incompetent manangement, sacred cows like JOBS banks, high unfunded health care legacy costs, stupid work rules, too many car brands, and bloated dealer organizations?

> Is it insane to ask the union members to make salary concessions sometime in 2009 to bring them in line with "Detroit South" , only to be told "NO" by your union?

> Is it insane to ask the 40 million Americans who do not have health care to subsidize your health care plans?

> Is it insane to wonder what The Shrinking Three will do with the bailout money when the Beltway Blowhards gave tens of billions of dollars  to Bank of America and Citigroup  a couple of months ago only to see these incompetent financial fops announce layoffs of 88,000 employees?

No, Mr. Goldfinger, we are not insane to ask your members to make even more concessions. We are asking you to make significant sacrifices to save your members from self-destruction. The glory decades of GM, Ford, and Chrysler are OVER. Deal with the current reality of this crisis. Union membership in the U.S. has shrunk to an all time low of only 7.5% of the workforce. There must be a reason for this steady decline in union numbers.

Mr. Goldfinger, look in the mirror. We are not insane, but you clearly are
arrogant!
